If you’re disabled or have a long-term illness you won’t be charged VAT on certain products that are designed for personal or domestic use. That means you automatically get 20% off the list price!
Given our product ranges are designed to assist people with long-term mobility challenges, pretty much everything we have is VAT exempt eligible. But just to be clear, these are the types of things that qualify:
- Personal electric vehicles
- Electric mobility scooters
- Wheelchair drive systems (coming soon)
- Walking Bikes
- Accessories and parts relating directly to mobility devices
- Wheelchair activity monitors (coming soon)
In order to receive your purchase VAT-free, you also need to demonstrate that you have a qualifying condition.
Under the Equality Act 2010, a person is deemed disabled if they have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long term’ negative effect on their ability to do normal activities.
Any condition that results in reduced mobility (including, but not limited to, MS, Parkinson's, ME, Motor Neurone Disease, CFS, Fibromyalgia, Muscular Dystrophy and Arthritis) qualify. However, you can download full guidance relating to the Equalities Act 2010 and definitions of disability.
Assuming that your condition and purchase items are both VAT exempt eligible, then when buying in-store we will ask you to sign a simple declaration to receive the ex. VAT price for your purchase.
If you’re buying online we will first ask you to create an account (we only need your name and email address for this) and make a declaration regarding your condition, after which you will be offered VAT-free pricing on the site. (If you don’t create an account you will be charged the prices including VAT!).
